The DT Swiss FR440 Freeride hub shell has been redesigned to interlock with the FRX5 composite wheel.

Standard DT Swiss internal components are used featuring their patented, high performance Star Ratchet System.

Disc Hubs

  • These top-end hubs are recognized for exceptional durability, reliability and low maintenance
  • Each hub is assembled by hand and are 100% Swiss made
  • 6 point international disc configuration is standard

Hub Components

  • Standard DT Swiss internal components are used so replacement parts are not a concern
  • The super-light, high quality components make for extremely stable disk brake hubs
  • No special tools are required for routine maintenance

Star Ratchet System

  • The free-wheel ratchet system is comprised of (2) star ratchets with 18 teeth each and (2) coil springs
  • The star ratchets are specially hard coated to hold up under almost any load
  • This system uses minimal parts and produces less wear on the drive mechanism. It is less susceptible to failure due to contamination
  • The patented pull-apart design doesn't need to be preloaded, making maintenance easy

Sealing Systems & Cartridge Bearings

  • The front and rear main axle seals are "Contact Free" to minimize rolling resistance
  • The rear free wheel mechanism features a unique "Labyrinth Seal System" to prevent potential ratchet mechanism contamination
  • The FRX5 versions are specified with steel ball bearings

Hub Shell & Lock Nut

  • The FR440 hub shell has been redesigned to interlock with the FRX5 composite wheel
  • The hub shell is oversized to increase the wheels lateral stiffness
  • The light weight aluminum is Black Anodized coated

Hub Shell / Composite Wheel Interlock

  • (10) Precision machined cutouts interlock the hub shell to the composite wheel
  • The lock nut is used to preload the hub shell to the composite wheel
  • A structural epoxy permanently bonds the lock nut and hub shell assembly to the composite wheel

Front Axle Conversion Kits

  • If you need to change your axle configuration, simple 2-piece End Cap conversion kits are available:
    • 100mm / 5mm QR
    • 110mm / 20mm thru axle

Rear Axle Conversion Kits

  • If you need to change your axle configuration, convenient kits requiring basic assembly are available for 135mm:
    • 135mm axle conversion kits available
    • 5mm QR (135mm only)
    • 10mm thru axle (with steel or light weight aluminum thru bolt and nuts)
